Alexander Rybak won the talent contest Kjempesjansen2006 with his own song Foolin'

Alexander showed his musical talent and great entertaining  spirit, when played concerts and went on concert tours with his family from an early age.
He was from the beginning also preoccupied with thinking “outside the box”. He began playing jazz and popular standards as well as pop hits. He composed music from an early age.

The friended musical families living in Nesodden started playing concerts together in southern Norway in 1996. Stephen Ackles, renowned Norwegian vocalist, pianist and songwriter joined them in 2003.

The Rybak- and Stanghelle musical families had already have a ten years tradition of playing summer concerts together in southern Norway, when they decided to make the eleventh a special one and to invite Hanne Krogh successful and beloved MGP- and Eurovision artist to join.

It consisted of 3 shows and took place in Arendal, Lyngdal and Kristiansand.

Below you'll find some reviews of local papers and a radio-interview that should be the oldest recording that was found with him so far.

15 years ago, the 18,5 years old Alexander signed up for the season 3 of the Norwegian talent competition "IDOL", aired on the channel TV2. The semifinal "Heat 5" was aired on the 25th February 2005.

As we know, already at the beginning of his musical career, in between all of his engagements, Alexander was wandering, while playing for food and lodging in some of the valleys and islands of Norway like Giske municipality.

HERE, you can read about that he was also traveling in Valdres area earlier.
But as far as I know, there was no article about that (re-)found yet.

A week ago, Alexander Rybak won the NRK's Kjempesjansen ("The Great Chance"). Tonight, he plays Mozart's "Requiem" in Korskirken (Kors Church) and also presents a Christmas song he has written himself

With violin, vocal and self-written song, the boy from Oslo went to the top among the viewers, and ran away with 382,000 kroner. Tonight he acts as orchestra leader in Ung Symfoni (Young Symphony).

Ung Symfoni is one of Norway's largest symphony orchestras for youth between the ages of 14 and 25. Most come from Hordaland, but young musicians from all over southern Norway are present. Alexander Rybak has been involved for two years.
