- It was incredible. I am very happy now, so happy, says dad Igor Rybak to VG Nett after his son Alexander ran off with a knockout-victory in MGP.

The 22-year-old was a big favorite before tonight's finale, and when the votes were counted, there was no doubt who was the viewers' favorite. With well over 700,000 votes, Alexander Rybak (22) knocked out all the other competitors.

"That's the greatest thing I have experienced ever," Rybak told VG Nett almost immediately after the victory was secured.

Excited parents
Two others who found Alexander's victory overwhelming were parents Natalia Valentinovna Rybak and Igor Rybak. They followed the son from their seats in the middle of the hall.

- It was great to follow him. It can't be described, says mom Natalia.
- We were a little nervous at first, but then it went so well, so we weren't nervous anymore, she adds.

Alexander himself tried to find out where his parents sat, but was somewhat uncertain where he had seen them.

- Where were you sitting?, he wonders.
- There, near the middle, explains the mother, pointing.
- That was nice, says Rybak.

- Hopes he will be liked
And the MGP winner is sure of that his parents must be there in Moscow at the international finals. Rybak is half Russian and speaks the language fluently. And the mother crosses fingers her son will be doing this great also in the international finals.
- We hope he and the melody will be liked and impressed by people, she says.
(This is what she is saying in the video on top - translator's note)

- Great
- I had never thought of this, seriously, MGP-winner Alexander Rybak's immediate reaction was after he ran off with the victory in Oslo Spectrum.

And when asked how he ranks the victory, the answer is simple.
- It's the greatest thing I have experienced ever.
