Interview and common performance of Didrik S-T. and Alexander Rybak on May 17th 2010 in vg.no

On the Constitution Day of Norway, the 17th May 2010, 12 days before the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 - due to Alexander's huge victory the previous year - was held in Oslo, a big show took place on Rådhusplassen (City Hall Square), where also Alexander's former school mate and good friend, Didrik Solli-Tangen, the Norwegian ESC-representative of that year performed, and Alexander joined him on violin.

"There is one reason why I am in the Grand Prix and that reason is Alexander Rybak"
- said Didrik Solli-Tangen to the surprised audience who attended the Grand Prix show on Rådhusplassen on Monday night.

- It was high time he gave me credit. Nope. I am kidding. But it's nice that he says I've had an important role, says Alexander Rybak to VG Nett after being on stage with Didrik Solli-Tangen.

Watch the video with the short interview with them both and some glimpses from their common performance here:

Spontaneously
Initially, Alexander Rybak was not supposed to be on stage during the show, but Rybak and Solli-Tangen surprised everyone when they together performed this year's Norwegian ESC-entry, "My Heart Is Yours".

Particularly excited was the crowd of howling teenage girls who had been waiting for hours to get what they thought it would be a solo performance by Solli-Tangen.
The cheer did not get any less when Rybak performed "Fairytale" as an extra number.

Wish Rybak on stage
Solli-Tangen thought it was incredibly good to have his buddy on "My Heart is Yours". Because Solli-Tangen actually would really like to have his friend on stage, when the final is soon to be launched in Telenor Arena.
- It was a lot of fun to have Alexander with me. I wish I could have him in the final, says Solli-Tangen.

Rybak was also pleased after the performance.
- It was very fun to be on stage with Didrik. It's so much fun to be on stage and show that we're both musicians. He doesn't get annoyed by the fact that there is an extra violinist on stage, and I am not put out that he stands there singing, says Rybak to VG Nett.

GO'HUG: Alexander Rybak and Didrik Solli-Tangen surprised
everyone when they performed "My Heart is Yours" together at Rådhusplassen.

Young girls' idols
The two friends both have great appeal with the teenage girls, which became clear after the performance. Because outside the backstage area, a crowd of fans gathered, hoping for a photo or autograph.
It was Alexander Rybak, who left the swarm and almost missed the boat to Nesodden, because he wrote autographs for many eager fans.
Soon afterward, Solli-Tangen also got to meet the fans, but he says that he is not quite used to all the attention yet.
- It's a little unusual when people shout my name and recognize me, I have to say, he says.
