EN || Happy 10th anniversary of Fairytale winning ESC-2009-Moscow! 🎉


This year, the 16th May it is 10 years ago since Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, Russia, with his self-composed song “Fairytale”.

This is an overview of his footsteps through many events and media appearances in throughout these two busy and exciting weeks all the way to the big victory in the Grand Final and then to the celebrations both in Russia and Norway - with  many video interviews in Norwegian, English or Russian, partially with translation in subtitles.
After three semi-finals winning in the biggest landslide in the history of the Norwegian national selection Melodi Grand Prix on 21 February 2009, Alexander's "Fairytale" won in the Grand Final of ESC in Moscow with the highest recorded score since the contest began, with 387 points (out of a maximum of 492), and with a margin of 169 points over the second place.


This is a documentary by NRK about the 14 days of Alexander and the team in Moscow before the big victory.
Reports about rehearsals, Alexander's dinner in Kirkorov's house, backstage interviews etc. And warm greetings and wishing good luck from all over Norway.

“Thank you again, Russia. Thank you all of Europe! And if there is anyone in Norway who is alive at 11 o’clock in the night tomorrow, then you are welcome to meet me at Gardermoen at 11.00. That would be nice. Thank you again, you are the best audience in the world!”

Alexander was also awarded the Marcel Bezençon Awards in the ESC2009,
for one of the best competing songs in the final.
He got one prize of the 3 categories, the Press Award - as to the best entry as voted on by the accredited media and press during the event
