"Fela igjen" - The Nesodden project

Text: Henriette Slaatsveen | Published: amta.no | 12.5.2018

We travel back to 2010 when Alexander Rybak released the song "Fela igjen". The song was a true Nesodden product. Rybak had collaborated with his three childhood friends: Anders Krohn, Morten Friis-Lund and Thomas Wærnes.

The video for the song was mainly recorded on Nesodden and in Frogn, more specifically on Skuterud farm, Hellviktangen and in Rybak's former publicist Kjell Arild Tiltnes' house on Oksval.

Many may remember Krohn, Friis-Lund and Wærnes as the band MKS. Back in 2010, they called themselves Opptur.
After just a day online, Alexander and Opptur's ironic song about unsuccessful dating had got tens of thousands of views.
- We each have made a verse about Alexander and he has made the chorus himself, explained Thomas Wærnes.
- Alexander has made the melody and then we each tell our story about him - Anders Krohn, who has made the first verse informed Amta in 2010.

The music video on Alexander's YouTube channel has multilingual subtitles

And here is a little video-interview about the making the music video - with multilingual subtitles

Some more info about Thomas Wærnes, Alexander's best childhood friend:
He contributed to other songs of Alexander as well, as a lyrics writer or co-writer for “Europe Skies”, “Suomi”, “First Kiss” and 5000 letters

In another article on amta.no published after Alexander's victory in MGP 2009 and 3 days before winning ESC in Moscow,

Thomas told about him like this:
- We played some basketball, but eventually Alexander had to stop to protect his fingers..
Alexander is a little quiet, and not really a party person. We would play Playstation or watch movies, that's how we enjoy ourselves.
Thomas finds the success very deserved, and remembers well how practicing affected everyday life:
- Every time we wanted to do something together after school, he had to practice before we could do anything else! I can still hear him tune the violin...
The buddy knows both parents of Alexander well, and has no doubt that they had pushed him to practice the violin when he was younger. Thomas thinks that Alexander is grateful for that now.
The fact that the Melodi Grand Prix participant from Nesodden could also sing, first appeared a few years back.
- I think it was about a year before he joined Idol (talent show in 2006) that he started singing. But Alexander is very musical, says Thomas.
To the question if he has changed after being successful, Thomas replies:
- I would say he has become more focused. Before, he was sometimes a bit distracted and "everywhere", so that's a good thing! But his personality has not changed, and I am happy about that. That's why we're buddies!
It took some time for the two friends to be comfortable with Alexander's participation in the Melody Grand Prix.
- In the beginning we both think it was a bit "harry" :-) (not trendy), but when he won the Norwegian finals it became very big very fast. I don't think he regrets it!
